An exciting opportunity has arisen in Enabling Good Lives Christchurch for two new Independent Facilitators (previously called navigators) to be added to the team.

Enabling Good Lives is a principle-based approach that aims to transform the disability sector and that gives people with disabilities greater choice, control and flexibility over their lives. A key characteristic of the Enabling Good Lives approach is Independent Facilitation.

Independent Facilitation is a relationship-based role that respects the autonomy and authority of disabled people. An Independent Facilitator is an “ally” whom walks alongside the disabled person, their family, aiga and whānau, enabling them to realise their goals and aspirations so they can live a good life. An underlying assumption of Enabling Good Lives and Independent Facilitation is that being connected within the community is integral to a good life.

These positions are for Independent Contractors, part-time and actual hours and tasks are negotiated. These hours are not to a regular schedule as they relate to the unique situation of the person and their family. Successful applicants will receive training and support through regular Professional Development and Practice Supervision.

Applications for these roles will close on Thursday 16 February. If you would like to be involved in Enabling Good Lives in Christchurch then please contact Joanna Martino on 03 974 2308 or joanna_martino@moh.govt.nz for an Application Pack.
