Georgina Muir
Georgina Muir is the Ministry of Social Development's Manager Health and Disability Policy, and is proud to be part of the co-design group.
Georgina first had involvement with the disability sector in the 1990s when she worked for the Central Regional Health Authority.
She was appointed to her current role at MSD in mid-2012 and her team has been the lead for MSD work on Enabling Good Lives since late 2012 as well as the MSD work needed to get approval and design, implement and evaluate the Christchurch and Waikato demonstrations. Her team also set up, and continues to provide support to, the National Enabling Good Lives' Leadership Group and the Joint Agency Group that oversees the cross-agency work on Enabling Good Lives.
Georgina has a group of colleagues from across MSD providing input to her for the co-design process, and she also feeds back to them after the workshops so the wider organisation is kept informed. She says she is really proud to be part of the co-design group that will come up with the design for the transformed disability system.
She loves the sea and walks around the bays enjoying Wellington’s waterfront life, boogie boards in summer, likes the wild coast blasts in winter, and going to sleep listening to the waves.
Georgina has subsequently changed jobs and is with the Ministry of Education.
