2017 has been a big year for the disability sector. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to System Transformation through leadership groups, the co-design group, working groups, forums, conversations and emails.

The System Transformation team has sent out information to virtual testing groups on:

  • Disability information frontend

  • Capability building funding mechanism for disabled people and families/ whānau

  • Information tools, pathways and processes

  • EGL team and system capability

  • System responsiveness

  • Provider analysis and capability

  • Environmental support services.

In mid-January, we expect to send out information to virtual testing groups on:

  • Network building

  • Interface with ACC

  • Interface with Health

  • Interface with Oranga Tamariki

  • Interface with Education

  • Interface with the Ministry of Social Development

  • High and complex.

We will be seeking feedback up until the end of March 2018, and any feedback received by Friday 9 February will be considered to feed into advice to Ministers in February.

You can still join a virtual testing group so please email STfeedback@moh.govt.nz if you wish to be added to a group. You can find the list of virtual testing groups here http://www.enablinggoodlives.co.nz/system-transformation/transformation-papers/system-transformation-updates/work-streams/ . Each different project has its own virtual testing group.

Please note that the whole System Transformation team is taking a break between 22 December and 8 January 2018, but we will action any requests from 9 January 2018.

On behalf of the System Transformation team, we wish you all the very best for the festive season and look forward to being in contact again early next year.

Kind regards,

Sacha O’Dea

Thank you for your comment and acknowledging the work that has been done. The System Transformation team is committed to working collaboratively across government to remove silos for those accessing services. Working groups and virtual testing groups have been set up on government interfaces in connection with ACC, Education, and the Ministry of Social Development to address potential issues and identify ways they can work with the new system. If you want to provide feedback on the Education or any of the other government interfaces, please email STfeedback@moh.govt.nz

I applaud your comprehensive coverage of different ministries which will allow people with (dis)abilities empower themselves to reach goals that will enrich our society. I would hope that this is for ALL people - ie that sudents who are struggling in our Education System are also receiving collaborative input from the people who matter in their lives: Education cannot 'fix' things on their own. There are a lot of people in New Zealand with needs and demographics state we as a society will need each and every one of them in future. I would hope this is a concept being broadly spoken of in our seat of government as the effect of 'silo'ing' each Ministry creates yet another barrier to allowing each and every individual contribute to New Zealand.
